Just because DEI was mishandled doesn’t mean it was worthless.

I ended every interview for this story with the same question: Where does DEI go from here? I wanted to understand how—if—it could be reimagined. Will the mission change? Is there still hope for what it can accomplish? Can the hollow, opportunistic version be replaced by something more honest, more meaningful?
