Appiah’s report is not a promising beginning for these field-specific internal reports. It does not engage the scholarly literature on politics, method, and truth within even Anglophone literary criticism in any serious way. And, in a more dangerous move that the larger report also echoes, it appears to rely on shoddy mixed-method data analyses published as appendices to the report.
