In January of 1969, the Revolutionary Union announced itself with what it called a Red Paper, the communist equivalent of a corporate-academic white paper, the first in a series the organization published promoting its formula of a pre-party formation. (The debt to Paul Baran is right there on the surface: The “statement of principles” uses the phrase “monopoly capital” 28 times.)
