You Have Not Yet Heard Your Favourite Song: How Streaming Changes Music Highlight

I made a playlist of the 100-200 of that week’s new releases that seemed most intriguing to me. Saturday morning I would go for a long run and start listening to it, and over the course of the week I would loop through it, deleting things that didn’t turn out to hold my attention, keeping the ones that I would happily play over and over if for some reason this were the last week that ever had new music. By the end of the week I usually got this playlist down below 100 tracks, in a listening order that obeyed some subjective internal logic.
